Custom Dressmaker
Abby was born in Chicago, Illinois and spent most of her childhood in the southern suburb of Park Forest. Abby received her education from the University of Wisconsin and Madison Area Technical College. She began sewing during high school and continued to sew for her husband and children while living in Dubuque, Iowa. At that time Abby also began selling fabrics through Leiter Fabrics. Unable to continue selling Leiter Fabrics upon moving to Madison, Wisconsin, Abby changed direction and became a custom clothier. Moving to Clearwater, Florida in 1982 necessitated starting over in business. Deciding to focus part time on custom clothing, Abby chose to work part time outside the home as the tailor in a local department store. In the early 1990's she again chose to focus solely on custom clothing. Although focusing primarily on bridal and evening wear, Abby has custom sewn and fit everything from a tuxedo to a swimsuit. The wide range of sewing experiences and people she has sewn for gives her the ability to work with those customers who are uniquely sized and make garments that are truly flattering and fit. Abby's sewing experiences and continuing education at both consumer and trade shows give her an eye to help people look their best. Abby is a charter member of PACC, the Professional Association of Custom Clothiers. She has attended all of the annual PACC national conferences. Over the years, Abby has served as Member at Large Representative to the National Board for the SouthEastern United States and was Vice Chair of Member Relations.
